Privacy on MC Mota's pages

What happens when you read these pages. Less than you are used to.

Your visit is counted, unless you turn that off

A script from Visitors counts which pages get opened, here and everywhere else on TAP. It runs from your first page, sets no cookie and is never given your name or your email address. A notice on that page says so and offers to turn it off, and the cookie policy has the same switch.

Our servers keep a short technical log of each request, with the page, the time, your browser and your IP address, to keep the service running and to spot abuse. We do not build a profile from it and we do not sell it.

What MC Mota sees

We also count, on our own servers, the views of these pages, the clicks on their links, channels, release buttons and shop, what is taken from the EPK (a download, a copy or a file opened), the clicks on a contact's email address, phone number, website or Save contact, and the messages sent through the contact form, for MC Mota's stats. A view adds one to that day's count for the page, and one each to the counts for the kind of site you came from, your country and whether you use a phone, a tablet or a computer. The country is the one our network provider reads from your IP address; where it gives none, the view counts as unknown. We keep no IP address, no browser description, no identifier and no record of a single visit, only the totals per day.

MC Mota's owners see those totals as they grow, today's included. Because they change as visits happen, an owner who knows you are on these pages at that moment can tell your country, your kind of device, the kind of site you came from, which buttons you clicked, what you took from the EPK and which contact you reached for. That is why we treat the counts as personal data. They are not public and not supplied through the API. We keep them while MC Mota is on TAP, so the history stays comparable, and purging the artist removes them.

We count on the basis of our legitimate interest, and the artist's, in knowing how often these pages are read, their buttons clicked, their material taken and their contacts reached, and where their visitors come from. You can object at any time with the same switch: with analytics off, the script does not load, nothing about your visit is counted for MC Mota's stats, apart from a request for access, which is counted from the request itself, and you keep reading as before. Visits counted before you turned it off stay in the daily totals. Your choice applies to this browser on tap.fm and lasts a year.

Cookies for your choices

Your choices are kept for a year either way, and counting uses no cookie of its own. Two more are set on every page, signed in or not, both strictly necessary, and until you sign in the session holds nothing that identifies you. The cookie policy lists all of them.

Players that come from somewhere else

The website, the links page, the EPK and a release page can embed a player from Spotify, SoundCloud, Mixcloud, Apple Music or YouTube, because that is what MC Mota put there. Those come from those companies, not from us. When one loads it can see your IP address and set its own cookies under its own policy. A video always waits until you press play. The other players wait for a press too, unless you said yes to loading them right away; that answer is kept for a year and this switch changes it. Block third-party content in your browser and the rest of the page still works.

Players are off in this browser on tap.fm.

If your own details are on this page

Contacts listed here were entered by MC Mota or their team. If that is you, write to help@tap.fm and we correct your entry or take you off entirely, without an account and without being asked why. Privacy for contacts explains what we hold and why, and shared responsibility says which of us answers for what.

What applications can read

Applications we have approved can read this artist through our API. That is the point of the register: one profile, kept current by MC Mota, that every platform reads instead of keeping its own stale copy. They are bound to a closed list of purposes, may not resell it and may not build a copy. Who receives register data lists everyone.

Your rights, and where to go

You can ask what we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, and object to what we do with it. Write to help@tap.fm. You can complain to the Dutch data protection authority at autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl, though we would rather you told us first.
