Co-headliner

Two artists sharing the top of the bill, alternating who closes.

Related

Two artists of similar size on one bill, with the closing slot swapping between cities or nights. It fills rooms neither artist could fill alone.

How the deal works

  • The fee is split, often evenly, sometimes with a little more to whoever closes
  • Both names appear at the same size on the poster
  • Set lengths are equal, or within five minutes of it
  • Production is shared, with one artist carrying the PA package on tour

What has to be agreed early

Who closes where, whose crew runs sound and lights, how long the changeover is, and how the merch positions are divided. Put it in both contracts, because the poster and the ticket page have to say the same thing.

When it works

It works when the two audiences overlap without being identical, and when both artists sell in the same cities. It fails when one artist is clearly bigger, the room empties after the first set, and the Billing stops being honest.
