Verification

Verified means we checked.

TAP checked that the people behind this profile are the artist or their team. Verified shows in the footer of every page and in every app that reads the artist, with the date. The artist cannot set it. Nobody else can copy it.

What it means

One word, one meaning.

TAP checked that the people behind this profile are the artist or their team. Nothing more, and nothing less.

It means

  • TAP checked that the people behind this profile are the artist or their team.
  • Apps and platforms that read the artist do not check again. They read the date it was verified.
  • The name and the handle are locked from then on. A change goes past TAP first.

It does not mean

  • That the bio is true, or that the pages are complete.
  • That the artist is popular, signed, or booked.
  • That the person at the door is who they say they are. That is what the passport is for.
What a visitor reads

A verified page carries the card.

The badge in the footer of the website, the links page, the music page and the EPK. Press it and this opens. An artist we have not checked carries nothing: no item in the footer, no badge in the EPK title.

Not verified

TAP has not verified this artist. The pages work: the website, the links page, the music page and the EPK all open, in the artist's branding. They say nothing about verification, and no app reading the artist gets a date.

Where it shows

In the footer, in every app, in the API.

On your four pages, in every app that reads the artist, and in the API. Every reader gets the date with it, so nobody checks again.

Pages

The verified badge in the footer of every page. On the website, the links page, the music page and the EPK. In your branding, but the badge keeps TAP's colour whatever accent you pick.

Apps

In the roster, verified included. Software that reads the artist shows verified beside the name. In the app your agency uses, the artist that comes from TAP carries it and the ones typed in do not.

API

A date, not a flag. Every app that reads artists gets verified_at with the profile. Null means not verified. What it costs at volume is on the partners page.

How to get it

Request it. We check.

Free, and the artist works without it. An owner requests from the artist once the account has a verified phone number.

1 Verify your phone number On your account. A verified number is what lets you request at all; it never appears on a page.
2 Fill the profile A bio and an avatar, your channels, a proven domain, a connected app. None of them is the check; each makes it quick.
3 Request verification One button under Verification in the artist, owner only. Withdraw it while TAP has not looked.
4 We check TAP looks at the people behind the profile. Denied, you see the date and the reason, fix what it names, and request again.
5 Verified Verified shows at once: in the footer of every page with the date, in the EPK title, and in every app that reads the artist.
What helps

What makes the check quick.

Under Verification in the artist, five things and whether each is done. Which of them the check rests on is ours to decide, and it can differ per artist.

Phone number A verified number on your account. Required to request.
Profile A bio and an avatar. The profile is what we read first.
Channels Spotify, Instagram, YouTube: the places the artist already is, so we can see the same artist there.
Website The artist's domain, proven yours with one DNS record.
Apps with access An app that holds the artist, like the agency's booking software, connected to it.
The check

Verified rests on a check. The check is ours.

We say that we check, never how. The methods are ours to choose and change. That way nobody can build a profile to pass them.

Does verification expire? No. It carries the date it was granted, and every page and app shows that date. Read more
Is verification the passport? No. Verification is on the artist: the profile is in the right hands. The passport is on a person: who they are, with a photo. Read more
