Guest list

The names an artist or promoter puts down for free entry.

Glossary

The guest list is a short list of names that get in free. It is agreed in the contract, not on the night.

How many

A club show typically gives the artist 2 to 10 places and a support act 2 to 4. A festival works per slot rather than per artist. The number goes into the contract as a count of places, sometimes with a few more available at cost. Anything above the agreed number is refused or charged.

How it works

  • Names go to the promoter by email, usually 24 hours before doors.
  • Full names only, no plus-ones unless agreed.
  • Guests collect a wristband at a separate desk or at the box office.
  • ID is often asked for.

Why promoters count it

Every place on the list is a ticket that was not sold. On a sold-out show that is real money, and on a deal where the artist shares the door income it costs the artist as well. Some contracts close the list once the show sells out, and some venues charge a reduced price instead of nothing.

Free for artists.

One place to keep your artist's facts, intro, bio, photos, riders and contacts up to date. Change it once and every promoter opens the newest version. Yours at tap.fm/yourname.
