Soft ticket

A show where the audience is there anyway, like a festival, a fair or a private event, so ticket sales say little about the artist.

Glossary

On a soft ticket the audience bought a weekend, a festival or a night out. The artist is part of the programme rather than the reason for the purchase.

Where it happens

  • Festivals, where one ticket covers a hundred artists
  • City festivals, fairs and free open-air events
  • Private and corporate bookings
  • Support slots on somebody else's tour

What it is good for

Fees are often higher than a club show for a shorter set, the production is supplied, and the crowd is bigger than the artist could pull alone. Summer festival fees carry a large share of the year for many European artists.

What it does not prove

A full festival tent does not mean tickets will sell in that city. Agents discount soft-ticket audiences when they size a headline room, so keep your Hard ticket results in a separate list and quote the right one.

Free for artists.

One place to keep your artist's facts, intro, bio, photos, riders and contacts up to date. Change it once and every promoter opens the newest version. Yours at tap.fm/yourname.
