You asked an artist's page to tell you when a release is out, or to put it in your library on the day. This page says what TAP holds to do that, for how long, and how to make it stop. You have no account with us and we are not building you one.
Who we are
TAP is run by Stagent B.V., Amsterdam. Write to help@tap.fm about anything on this page.
What we hold
- Your email address, if you gave one, and whether you have confirmed it. The only thing we send to an address that is not confirmed is the link that confirms it: somebody typing an address is not proof they own the mailbox.
- Whether you said you are 16 or older. We ask once, before you follow an artist, and we keep only the answer that you are. We never record that somebody is a child.
- Which releases you asked for, and on which platform.
- Which artists you follow, when you started, and whether you confirmed it.
- Whether a release-day mail for a pre-save has gone out or been refused, and why if not: because you stopped our mail, or because no page of the artist's shows the release yet.
- That we mailed you about a release you follow an artist for, and when. One record per release, however many artists on it you follow, so you get one mail, not several.
- The authorization you gave a streaming platform, if you connected one. That is a token that lets TAP read which storefront your account uses, add one album to your library and read it back to confirm it saved, and nothing else. It is encrypted where it sits and it never leaves us.
We hold no name, no listening history, no location and no profile of you.
Why we may
For a release you asked for, because you asked: the whole of what we do with the address is the thing you requested. Each release is confirmed on its own, through a link we mail for that release, so proving the mailbox once does not ask us for the next one.
For an artist's next releases, because you asked to follow them: by leaving your address in the follow form on their website or links page, or by pressing the line the release page offers once your pre-save stands. Where you typed an address, we mail you a link and the follow stands only once you open it and press Confirm; until then it counts for nothing and the artist is told nothing. The press on a release page needs no such link, because your browser got there by opening one and the address is already proven. That is your consent and you can take it back at any time, from any mail we send or from your own page. If you stopped our mail and later follow an artist again from a browser that has just opened one of our links, that is your consent again, and our mail starts again.
What happens on release day
TAP looks the release up on the platform you connected, adds it to your library, and mails you the link. Where you only left an address, you get the mail and nothing else.
A platform may refuse, and an authorization may have run out by then. We tell you either way rather than letting it fail quietly.
Follow an artist rather than pre-save a release, and TAP mails you once it is out: the release, the artist, its platform links, and why you got it, 'You get this because you are a fan of' the artist. Follow two artists credited on the same release and you still get one mail, not two, and a release you both followed for and pre-saved sends only the mail above, not this one. None of it reaches you if you stopped our mail, if your address has bounced, or if the release is dated to a month or a year rather than a day.
Who else sees it
Nobody. The artist sees how many people asked for a release and how many follow them. They never see your address, and there is no way for them to export one. We do not sell anything, and we run no advertising on the pages you use here or in our mail to you.
The streaming platform you connected is your own account with them, under their terms, not ours.
Our mail is delivered by Resend, in the EU, which is what makes a bounce or a complaint stop us writing to you again.
How long we keep it
Your pre-saves and follows stay while you have them. Delete them, or yourself, whenever you like.
A pre-save you never confirmed waits while the link we mailed can still confirm it, and is removed once no valid link remains.
A follow you never confirmed counts for nothing and is removed after thirty days. The link that would have confirmed it works for a day; the record stays a little longer so a second attempt does not start from nothing.
A fan we cannot reach and who is waiting for nothing is removed after twelve months: no confirmed address, no confirmed follow, nothing pending. That is the case where somebody connected a library, cleared their browser and can no longer ask us for anything, and we would rather not hold a token nobody can take back.
The record that we mailed you about a release you follow an artist for goes when you do, the same as everything else in this section.
The record that a mail left our system stays, so a bounce or a complaint keeps working. It holds the address and the subject, and nothing about what you asked for.
Your rights
Everything is on one page, at /fan. It lists what you follow, what you connected and what you are waiting on, and it lets you stop following, disconnect a library, or have us delete the lot.
Every mail we send you ends in a link to that page. In the browser you read our mail in, it shows what we hold; in any other, it asks for your address and we mail you a way in. Stopping our mail needs neither: every mail about an artist carries the one-click stop your mail app offers. A confirmation or access-link mail does not, because it is the one message you asked for at that moment; the page above still turns off everything that follows. To stop following an artist, disconnect a library or have us delete everything, ask the page for a fresh link and we mail you one. That link works once and lasts a day, on purpose: it is the only thing that proves the changes are yours. If you connected Apple Music without leaving an address, we have no way to mail you a link; you can stop us saving to your library by removing TAP from the apps connected to your Apple Account.
