Confirmed means both sides are committed and the date leaves every hold list. The rest of the show's admin starts here.
What happens at confirmation
- The date drops off other promoters' holds
- The deal memo goes out, usually within a few days
- The deposit invoice follows
- Announcement and on-sale dates get agreed
- Advancing starts, often six to eight weeks before the show
Confirmed, not signed
In practice a show counts as confirmed the moment the agent writes yes to the offer by email. The contract can arrive weeks later. Most European agencies work this way, and a promoter who pulls out after a verbal confirmation damages a relationship they need again next season.
Announcing
Do not announce before the agent says the date is clear. Radius clauses, festival exclusivity and the other artists on the bill all decide when a name can go public. See Offer.
