An offer is the promoter's opening position, in writing. Agents compare offers side by side, so anything missing gets asked for and slows the date down.
What a complete offer contains
- Date, city, venue and capacity
- Fee, currency and deal type
- Billing: headline, support, or a festival slot with a stage and a time
- Ticket price and on-sale date
- What the promoter provides: sound, lights, backline, hotel, ground transport
- Radius clause, if there is one
- Who pays which taxes
How offers move
Most offers are countered once. Either the fee moves, or the promoter adds hotels and flights instead of raising it. In Europe a fee is quoted net of local withholding tax more often than not, so say which you mean.
After agreement
Acceptance turns the offer into a booking, and the terms get restated in a Deal memo before the contract. Nothing new should appear in the memo that was not in the offer.
