Green room

The room backstage where the artist waits, eats and gets ready.

Glossary

The green room is where the artist sits between load-in and stage. It is also where the hospitality rider is either honoured or quietly ignored.

What it usually holds

  • A door that locks, and a key handed to someone by name
  • Seating, a mirror, a clothes rail
  • The catering and drinks from the hospitality rider
  • Wifi, sockets, towels and somewhere to hang wet clothes

Who has access

The artist, its crew, and whoever the tour manager lets in. The Artist liaison keeps press, guests and the promoter's friends out until after the set. Festivals replace private rooms with a shared artist area and a production office next to it.

What to ask for in advance

Say how many people you are, whether you need a quiet room in the hour before stage, and whether anything has to be kept cold. A club with one room and three artists on the bill splits the time, so ask when the room is yours.

Free for artists.

One place to keep your artist's facts, intro, bio, photos, riders and contacts up to date. Change it once and every promoter opens the newest version. Yours at tap.fm/yourname.
