Input list

The list of every sound source on stage, in channel order, with the microphone or DI it needs.

On TAP

Input list is one of the four kinds a rider file can carry on TAP. A file left unclassified reads as Rider.

The input list is what the sound engineer patches from. Channel 1 down to the last one, in the order they sit on the desk.

What each line holds

  • Channel number
  • Source, named plainly: kick in, snare top, bass DI, lead vocal
  • The microphone or DI you want, plus an alternative you accept
  • Whether it needs phantom power
  • Stand type: tall boom, short boom, none

Why the order matters

Engineers expect drums first, then bass, guitars, keys, playback, vocals last. Keep to it and a house engineer patches 24 channels in ten minutes. Break it and every line gets read twice, which comes out of soundcheck.

Keeping it current

Number the version and date it. Send it with the Stage plot, never on its own. If the artist plays to tracks, say how many channels playback needs and where the click goes, because that decides whether the venue's desk and split have room for you at all.

Free for artists.

One place to keep your artist's facts, intro, bio, photos, riders and contacts up to date. Change it once and every promoter opens the newest version. Yours at tap.fm/yourname.
