Glossary

Territory

The countries or regions an agent or agency represents an artist in.

Glossary
On TAP

A contact with the agent role carries the territories they book in. They read after the role on the artist's pages and in the Agent fact on the EPK.

Territory decides who answers when a promoter asks about a date. Most working artists have more than one agent, split by map.

Common splits

  • Europe, often including the UK
  • North America
  • Latin America
  • Asia and Oceania
  • Sometimes the artist's home country, handled separately

Benelux, Germany, Austria and Switzerland are frequently grouped together, because the promoters and festivals overlap.

Why it is split at all

Relationships are local. A Dutch agency knows which club in Cologne pays on time, which one calls back, and what a Thursday in February is worth there. That knowledge does not travel to Seoul.

Practical effects

Two agents on one artist means one calendar, so every hold, routing decision and Radius clause has to cross between them. Write down who covers what, including the edges: Turkey, Israel and the Gulf states get filed under different regions by different agencies.

Free for artists.

One place to keep your artist's facts, intro, bio, photos, riders and contacts up to date. Change it once and every promoter opens the newest version. Yours at tap.fm/yourname.
