API conditions of use

What you may do with register data you take from us, how long you may keep it, and the closed list of purposes every approved application is bound to.

For callers and developers

Last updated 25 Sep 2026

These conditions apply to everyone who reads register data from The Artist Passport, whether through our API, our website, or any other means. Registered applications also enter into a separate Developer Agreement.

Who are you?

Anyone who retrieves register data from us.

  • By retrieving it, you agree to these conditions.

Who are we?

We are Stagent B.V., trading as TAP (The Artist Passport), registered in the Netherlands under Chamber of Commerce number 75826216, at Keizersgracht 520H, 1017 EK Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

What may you use register data for?

To show an artist's own details to your users, with attribution.

To keep details you already hold about an artist up to date.

To reach an artist, or the people who represent that artist, about that artist's work.

To check whether an artist is who it says it is.

To show a holder the passport we issued them, where that holder has authorised you to read it.

If you have another reason to use the data, ask us first.

  • You may use it once we have given you written permission.
    • This applies to every way of copying, including a screenshot, an export, or storage in a database.

When are you misusing the API?

You use register data for anything other than the purposes above.

  • For example: you use the contact details to approach people to sell them something.
  • For example: you build a directory, a mailing list, or any other collection of artists or their representatives that can be used without us.
  • For example: you use the data to train a model.
  • This applies if you instruct someone else to do it.
  • This applies if you give someone else the means to do it.

You read a holder's passport without that holder's authorisation, or after they have withdrawn it.

You pass the data on, resell it, or sublicense it, including to companies in your own group.

You keep the data longer than the periods below.

You ignore a change or a deletion we send you.

You retrieve data in bulk without the scope that permits it.

You do not follow data protection law when using the data.

How long may you keep a copy?

You may cache what you retrieve, up to these limits, and no longer:

Data Maximum
Contact details of people representing an artist 24 hours
A holder's passport: name, photo, artists and roles 24 hours
Rider names and metadata 24 hours
Artist name, handle, biography, intro, facts, images, channels, verification status 30 days

After that, retrieve it again or delete it.

When we tell you that data has changed or been withdrawn, you apply that within 24 hours. That includes removing it from anything you have already published.

Do you have to say where the data came from?

Yes. Where you show register data to your own users, name The Artist Passport as the source and link to the artist it came from.

Are we responsible for the information?

No. Artists maintain their own profiles and we do not check what they enter for accuracy.

Where an artist is verified, that means we checked that the people behind the profile are the artist or their team. It does not mean that the details on the artist's pages are correct, current, or complete.

A passport says who we issued it to and which artists that person belonged to when you read it. It says nothing else about them.

When do we restrict access?

For everyone: when we need to, to keep our systems stable.

For you: when you do not keep to these conditions.

  • We may then close off your access without notice.
  • We may also claim the penalty set out in the Developer Agreement, where you have entered into one.

May we change these conditions?

Yes. We will publish the new version here. If a change materially affects how you may use the data, we will tell registered applications in advance.
