Social platforms allow one clickable link on a profile. Everything an artist wants a listener to reach, the new single, the tour dates, the shop, the follow form, has to fit behind it. A links page is the answer, and 'link in bio' is what the caption says.
What goes on it
- The current release at the top, on every service.
- Tickets for upcoming shows.
- Merchandise.
- A follow form, for the next release.
- The channels a visitor is not already on.
Keep it to five or six. A list of fifteen is a list nobody reads to the bottom.
Keep it current
A single from eight months ago at the top tells a visitor the artist stopped. Move the top item every time something new comes out, and take down shows that have passed or sold out.
Own the address
Services that host these pages come and go, and when one closes every profile pointing at it breaks. A page on a domain the artist controls survives that, and the traffic data stays with the artist.
