Settlement

Working out what the artist is owed after the show, from the ticket count and the agreed deal, and paying it.

Glossary

Settlement happens after the last song, usually in an office with a printout and a calculator. It is the moment the artist finds out how the show did.

What is on the table

  • The box office report: tickets sold by price band, comps and holds
  • Agreed deductions: VAT, ticketing fees, and any costs written into the deal
  • The deposit already paid
  • Withholding tax, deducted and receipted
  • Merchandise, when the venue takes a cut

Who attends

The tour manager for the artist, the promoter or their production manager for the venue. On a flat Guarantee with the deposit paid there is nothing to work out, so settlement is a signature and a transfer.

What to bring

The contract, the deposit receipt, tax residency papers and bank details. Ask for the box office report as a document rather than a number read out, and keep it. Disputes surface weeks later, not on the night.

Free for artists.

One place to keep your artist's facts, intro, bio, photos, riders and contacts up to date. Change it once and every promoter opens the newest version. Yours at tap.fm/yourname.
