Before you start
The domain has to be verified: Prove the domain is yours. An owner or someone editing through an app can do this.
Switch it on
- Open Website for the artist. The Domain section shows the verified hostname.
- Press Show the website on your hostname.
- We show the records to add at your DNS provider. Each has its own status.
- Add them, then press Check DNS, or wait. We check every five minutes.
| Record | What it does | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Ownership | Tells the host the domain may be served for you | Found or Not found yet |
| Certificate | Lets the host issue the certificate for https | Found or Not found yet |
| Traffic | Sends visitors of the domain to the website | Found or Not found yet |
| Traffic (www) | Sends visitors of www.yourdomain to the website too | Found or Not found yet |
The names and values are on the Website page; they differ per domain. Some providers add the domain to a name for you; then enter only the part before it.
When the first three records are found the domain shows Live with the date, and you get a mail. Anyone who opens the domain now sees the website. The www record is not needed for Live; without it, www.yourdomain does not open.
What moves
The website, with its privacy summary and, with Shopify connected, its products at the shop's name, like /merch. The links page, the music page and the EPK stay at the handle on TAP, and the website links to them. The website channel leaves the channel row on your pages, since every page already links to the website; the EPK download and connected apps keep it.
Take it off
An owner takes it off under the same section. The website is back at the handle at once. The domain stays verified.
