Stats, for an artist, is a small number of questions: is anybody opening this, which link do they take, and where did they come from. Anything beyond that is measurement for its own sake.
What is worth counting
- Views per page, so a link that was shared can be told from one that was not.
- Which link, channel or platform button visitors open.
- Where the visit came from: a social app, a search engine, a direct address.
- What a promoter took from the EPK and which contact they reached for, since a booking leaves no other trace on a page.
Counting without following people
A count per day per page answers all of the above and holds nothing about a person. The alternative, a row per visit with an identifier attached, answers the same questions and creates an obligation to somebody who only wanted to read a page.
What it cannot tell you
A view is not a listener and a click is not a ticket. Page counts say which link worked, never who is coming to the show. Read them next to the things that actually convert, or they will flatter.
