Why
A verified number proves a person holds this account. Four things need it:
- Requesting verification for an artist.
- Requesting your passport.
- Importing your music from Spotify.
- Signing in to another app with TAP.
Nothing else. The number never shows on an artist page.
Verify it
- Open Account, or the phone step when you first sign in.
- Enter the number with its country code, like +31 6 12345678.
- We send a six-digit code by text message. Enter it within 10 minutes.
The code does not arrive
Check the number, including the country code. Some numbers cannot receive codes, like landlines and some virtual numbers; the page says so. After a few tries the page asks you to wait before sending again.
Change or remove it
Both under Account, on the Sign-in tab. Removing the number does not touch verification that was already granted, and it does not touch an issued passport.
